Ferry Ultra

Biography

He is veteran-DJ and Manager among the Soulpower crew: DJ Ferry. Behind the turntables since 1986, over the years he has played every single Hannover Club. Ferry discovered his love for Soul music quite early, DJing old vinyl in the late 1980s at Palo Palo with his buddy Mousse T. Eventually, he took over the famous club at Hannover's Raschplatz and established it as one of the hottest spots of the Acid Jazz era. Roy Ayers, Jamiroquai, Gil Scott Heron, Karl Denson, Corduroy -- they all have jammed or grooved at the Palo, ten years before Soulpower. But Ferry even made a name nationally, playing at the Windsurfing Worldcup on the German island Sylt for three years, DJing at the VIVA-Comet-Party. At a charity for the German national TV network Sat1 in Cologne he made Coolio and german soul singer Xavier Naidoo dance and he even performed in the castle of the German president in Berlin. Frequent guest-appearances in France, Switzerland, Austria and Spain were the consequence of this fame. In Hannover, since 2001 Ferry promotes the Groove Garden at the famous Maschseefest, a party for thousands. But Ferry is also a talented producer. For his own project "The Freak Experience" he experiments with rather obscure sounds, and for Mousse T.'s debut album "Gourmet de Funk" he had remixed the world hits "Horny" and "Sex Bomb". In spite of all of that, Ferry's heart beats for soul music: "Soulpower brings back the good old times at Palo Palo."

Ferry has worked with Mousse T., Roy Ayers, Juliet Edwards, Randy Crawford, Java, Raul Paz, Delroy Rennalls (Mr President), Jamiroquai and many others.
